At Ocmulgee, Old Fields, and at any place or places, where troops are or may be ftationed, marched, or recruited, within the limits of the ftate of Georgia 17th. Propofals will alfo be received, as aforefaid, for the fupply of all rations which may be required by the United States, for the troops which are or may be ftationed, marched, or recruited, within the town of Springfield, in the ftate of MaiTachufetts; and for the armorers, and other perfons employed in the United States armory at that place, from the firft day of June, one thoufand eight hundred and eleven, inxdufive, to the firft-day of June, one thouf.jnd eight hundred and twelve.
to coniift of one pound and one quarer of beef, or three quarters of a poud of pork, eighteen ounces of bread or flour, one gill of rum, whik-y, or brandy, and at the rate of two quarts of fait, four quarts of vinegar, four pounds of ioap, and one pound and a half of candles, to every hundred rations. The priies of the feveral component parts of the ration (li all be fpecified ; but the United Stares refcrve the right of making fuch alterations in the price of the com. onent parts of the ration aforefaid, as (hall make the price of each part thereof bear a juft proportion to the propofed price of the whole ration. The rations are to be furnilfced in fuch quantities, that there fhall at all times during the term of the propofed contract, br fuffii ient for the confumption of the troops at Michilimackinac, Detroit, Fort Ofage, . and Belle Vue, Chikago, for fix months in advance ; and at each of the ports on the weftern waters, for at leaft three months in advance, of good and wholefome provifions if the fame mall be required. It is alfo to be permitted to ;ll and every of the commandants of fortified places or pofts, to call for at feafons when the fame can be transported, or at any time in cafe of urgency, fuch fupplies ot like provifions in advance, as in the difcretion of the commandant fhall be deemed proper. It is underftood that the contractor is to be at the rifle of ifluing the fupplies to the tfoops, and that all Iofies fuftained by the depredations of the enemy, or by njean of the troops of the United States, (hall be paid by the United States, at the price of the articles captured or deftroyed, as aforefaid, on the depofition of two or more perfons of credible characters, and the certificate of a commifiioned officer, ftating the circumftances of the lofs, and the amount of the articles for which compenfation Hull be claimed. The previlfgc U underftood to be referved to the United States, of requiring that none of the fupplies, which may be furniflied under any of the propofed contracts, fhall be ifiued, until the fupplies which have been, or may be furtiifhed under the contracts now in force, have been confumed ; and that a fupply in advance, may be always required at any of the fixed pcfts on the fea bom!, or Indian frontier, not cxcccJint; three racnths.
