POETICAL ASYLUM, The follwing beautiful lines are copied rem the London Courier of the 7th Nov. THE DEATH OF THE RICHTEOUS. ( From the " Leisure Hour Improved.") SWEET is the fecne when Virtue dies When finks a righteous foul to reft, How mildly beam the doling eyes, How gently heaves th'expiring breaft ! So fades a fummer cloud away ; So finks the gale when ftorrns are o'er, So gently (huts the eye of day ; So diet the wate along the Chore. Triumphant fmiles the victor brow, Fann'd by fome angel's purple wing ; O Grave I where is thy vict'ry now ! Invidious Death I where is thy (ling ? !A holy quiet reigns around ; A calm, which nothing can defiroy : Nought can deftroy that peace profound,

Which their unfetter'd fouls enjoy. Parewell, conflicting hopes and fears, Where lights & Andes alternate dwell I How bright the unchanging morn appears ! Farewell, inconflant world I Farewell I Its duty done, as finks the clay, Light, from its load, the fpirit flies : .While htaven and earth, combine to fay, "Sweet is the fecne when Virtue dies."
