be commenced in the town of Vincennes, with certain of the Indian Tribes, on fubjefts interefling as well to the Territory, as the United Statesand whereas the laws of the Territory authorife and empower the Governor of fiid 'territory to prohib't the fale of any ardent or intoxicating liquors to the Indians, pending any Treaty or Conference. -Now therefore I have thought proper to ifuie this my proclamation prohibiting the fde or difpofition of any fpirits or r)ther intoxicating liquors, to, or amongft the Indians, on any pretence "whatfoever. in the Town of Vinceune?, or -within thirty miles of the fame.
