THE WESTERN SUN, IS printed weekly at TWO Dollars, paid in advance, or an attested NOTE, payable at the end of the year for TWO Dollars and Fifty CENTS. No Subscription will be received for a less term than one year and will not be discontinued until all arrearages are paid. Advertisements of no more length than breadth will be published at FIFTY CENTS for the first insertion, and Twenty-Five CENTS for every after insertion. To avoid unpleasant disputes, it is requested of advertiling customers, that they particularly specify the time their advertisements are to be continued.— Those sent without such direttions will be continued till forbid, and must be paid for accordingly. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives ef the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That the prefident of the United States be, and he is hereby authorifed to remit any penalty or forfeiture which may have been incurred in confequence of the violation of any of the proviiions of the adi, entitled "An act to prohibit the importation of flavesinto any port or place within the jurifdicYion cf the United States, from and after the firft day of January, in the year of cur Lord, one thoufand eight hundred Sc eight," by anyperfon who may have been concerned in bringing into any port or place within the juriillicTion of the United States any flave or Haves, ovn?d by any perfon or perfons, who mall have been forcibly cxpclled from the ifland of Cuba, by order of the government thereof ; and the prefident of the United States is hereby further authorifed toreleafe all veffels and other eifecls, which may have been or may hereafter be feized therefor : Provided, That he (hall be firft fatknd in every cafe, that the perfon thus concerned in bringing in fuch (lave or (lives as aforefaid, was impelled thereto by circumftances which, in the judgment of the prefident of the Unitfd States, would juftify the ac" ; and without any intention on the part of fuch p-rfon voluntarily toevr.de any of the proviiions of the ?i aforefaid : An provided also, That fnch (lave or flvrs Hnll liavr been brought into the United States in the fame veffel, and at thr fame time as their owner or owners rcfpr!divcly. sec.
