The Editor muU regret the ncrieility he is under of claiming the indulgence of another week, for the pnrpafe of clearing up the report to induflrioully circulated to his prejudice, and which he had promifed this week want of time, he hopes will be con fidcred as a good exenfe for the delay. From an arrangement made by a feledl committee for that purpofe, the inhabitants of this town and its vicinitv met, at the houfe of captain Wamburn, on this day to cdebrate the anniverfary of our independence the following arrangements were made for the order of the d;v. 4 Shadrach Utnd.jun. President Abtjah Ward, I'tce President. Pcrtcr Dirling, with feveral other rrfpec tb!e citizens to fire the gun, the celebration commenced at day Hht by the firing of fexenteen rounds of a field piece about one o'clock, mr. Murphy fung a hymn, and delivered a pr.iyer appropriate to the accafion ifrer which Jacob A. Boyes, Efq delivered an animated add rets to near one hundred people of both fexes, and read the de. deration of American Independence after "which the company f-t down to an el-gant dinner prep-ued by enptain capt. Wnflihiirn after dinner the following toatts were drank, accompmied by a difcharge of a held piece to ca-th to ill. 1. The day we annually celebrate a fenrt to independent fouls. 2.
