tercourfe between the United States and Great Britain and France, and their dependendencies ; and for other purpofes. (Continued from our last.) sec. 1 4. sec. 16. And be it further enacted That
if any fliip or veflel hall, during the con
tinuance of fo much of the ac, laying an
embargo on all hips and veffcls in the ports
and harbois of the United States, ar.d ot

is not repealed by this act, depart f rom anv
port of the United States, without a clean
ance or permit, or having given bond in
the manner provided by law, fuch (hip or velTel, together with her cargo, fliall be
wholly Forfeited : and the owner or own
ers, agent, freighter or factors, 'naHier or
commander of fuch fhip or yefieSMhall,
moreover, feveraily, ferfcitand pay a fum
equal to the value of the fhip or veffcl,
and ot the cargo put on board the lame.
Sec. 17. And be it further enacted, That
the ail to prohibit the importation of cer
tain goods, wares and merchandife, palled
the eighteenth April, one thoufand eight
hundred and fix, and the aft fupplementarv
thereto, be and the fame hereby is repealed,
from and after the faid twentieth day of May next ; Provided, That all penalties
and forfeitures which (hall have been pre
vioufly incurred by virtue of the faid a&s (hall be recovered and diftributed in like
manner, as if the faid ad had continued in
full force and virtue.
Sec. 18. And be it further enacted,Thzx

or incurred by virtue of this acl, may be
fued for, profecuted and recovered, witl

of the United states of America, or by m diclment or information, in anv court hav

of Representatives cf the United States of
America, in Congress assemoled 1 hat
fum, not exceeding forty thoufand dollars.
in addition to the fum heretofore appropri
ated tor the purpole of carrying on trade
ana mtercourle with the Indian nations, in
the manner prefcribed by the aft, entitled
u An aft for efiabliflnng trading houfes
with the Indian tribes," be, and the fme
is hereby appropriated, to be paid out o
ny monies in the trealury cf the United
states not otherwife appropriated.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted vra
the fum of eight hundred dollars btoyand
the fame is hereby appropriated out of any
monies in thetreafury of the United states not otherwife appropriated, for an additional clerk in the office of the fuoerintendant
of Indian trade.
sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the provifo to the twelith feftion of the aft,
