Hving feen in the " MilTouri Gazette" and alfo in the Weftern World" an unfair reprefentatton of the unfortunate meeting between Doclor J. Dunlap and Rice Jones of this place, I think it but jutlice that the public mould be informed of the rife and progrefs of that difpute.
It is true that col. Bond had an affair cj
honor with mr. R. Jones, in which Dunlap was the friend of Bond, and that Bond did requeft Dunlap to publifii the acknowledgment of mr. Jones. This publication
drew from mr. Jones the hittercfl invec! ives and perfonal abufe By fcveral publi
cations lie endeavoured to place the Doctor
in the moll rediculous point of view, as r. phv fician ; and to diftroy his pradlice by which alone he fupported a young and rifing family. This condufl on the part of mr. Jones irritated Dr. Duntaps feelings to ai; unufual degree Ke anfwered Jones' fr.

ed, that Jones had a&ed cow-nclly "m th-

attempts not only to injure the Doctor in his property but to drive him frOm a country which he had chofen for his future refidence, had naturally a great effect on the delicate feelings of the Doc"lor wc do
not pretend at this moment to pronounce
the guilt or innocence of the Doclor on

concatenation of aggravations as we have
witneffed in this cafe, no man of fpirit can predict in what his conduft, would have
terminated We are well affured that Dun
lap wis a man of the higheft fence of honor
and thertioie did not attack Jones without giving him a chance to defend himfelf
Hence we conclude that the advifers ol
mr. Jones fauirht his diftru&ion, and his death may jufrly be attributed to them and the imprudence of his perfonal attacks; i d not to the advifcrs and neighbours of Dodor James Dunlap. Spectator. some few dnys Hnce John l-.dgar ilTued
