BE it enacted by the Semite and House cf Representatives of the United States oj Annrtca in Congress assembled. Sfc. 7. And be it further enacted, That if any article or artiiles, the importation of which is prohibited by this act, and which (lull uevertlk lefe be on board of any (hip or vefsel, boat, raft or carnage, arriving after the faid twentieth of May next, in the United States, or the territories thereof, (hall be omitted in the manifctt. report or entry of the mafitr, or the perfoti having the charge or command of tut h fiiip or vefsel, ho t, raft or carriage, or thall be omitted in the entry of the goods owned by the owner or configned to the configure of fuch articles, or (lull be imported, or landed, or attempted to be imported or landed without a permit, the fame penalties, fines, and forfeitures, fliall be incurred, and my be recovered, as in the cafe of fimilar omifiion or oniiflions, lauding, importation, or attempt to land or import in relation to articles' liable, to duties on their importation into the United States. Sec. 8. And be it further enacted, ;That
every collector, nava officer, furveybr, oi other officers of the cufioms, fliall have the like power and authority to feize goodsi, wares and merchandife imported contrary to the intent and meaning of this act, to keep the fame in cufiody until it (hall havr been afcertained whether the fame havr been forfeited or not, and to enter any (hip or vefsel, dwelling houfe, flore, building c other place, for the -pur pole of fearching for and feizing any fuch goods, wares ami merchandize, which he or they now have by law in relation 'to goods, wares and merchandize fubject to duty ; and if any per foil or perfons (hall conceal or buy any goods, wares or merchandize, knowing them to be liable to frizure by this act, fuch perfon or perfons fliall, on convittion thereof, forfeit and pay a fum double th amount or value of the goods, wares and merchandife fo concealed or purchafed. Sec. 9. And be it further enacted, That the following additions fliall be made to the oath of affirmation taken by the matters or perfons having the charge or oom mand of any (hip or vrfsel arriving at anv port of the United States, or the territories thereof, after the twentieth ,of May, viz. u I further fwear, (or affirm) that thrre are not to the beft of my knowledge ano belief, on board, (insert the denomination
and name of the vessel,) and goods, ware?
or merchandize, the importation of which
into the United States or the territories thereof, is prohibited by law : And I do
further fwear, (or affirm) that if I fliall
hereafter difcover or know of nny fuel)
goods, wares or merchandize, on bor.rd the

without delay, make due report thereof to
die collector cf the port of this diftrict." Sec. 10. And be it further enacted, That

Provided, That all penalties and forfeitures which fli!! have been previoufiy incurred by virtue of fo much of the faid acts as as repealed by this act, or which have been or may hereafter be incurred by virtue of the faid acts, on account if any infraction of fo much of the faid acts sis not repealed by this act, (hall be recovered ajid difl? ihuted in like manner as if the f id acts had continued in full force and virtue. set . 13. And be it further enacted, That during the continuance of fo much of the act laying an embargo on all Ihips and veffcls in the ports and harbors of the United states, and of the several acts fupplementaiy thtretft, as is not repealed by thiact, no Ihip or vefsel bound to a foreign port with which commercial jnteicourse (hall, by virtue of this act, be again permitted, (hall be '-Mowed to depart for fuch port, unlefs the nvner or owners, confignee or factor of fuch fliip or vrfsel, fliall with the mafler, have given bond with one or more fecurities to the United states, in a fum double the value of the vefsel and cargo, if the vefsel is wholly owned by a citizen or citizens of the United states; and in a fum four times the value, if the vefsel is owned in. part or in whole by any foieigner orforeigners, th.it the vefsel (lull not leave the port without a clearance, nor. fliall, when leaving the port, proceed to any port or place in Great Butain or France, or in the colonies or d-pnde ih ies of either, or in the actual pofs llion of either, not be directly or indirectly engngtd durrng the voyage in any trade with I'm h port, r.oi fl,.,H pUt any article on hoard of any other vefVel ; nor unlrfs every other reqi-ifitf and provifion of
