Governor Harrison has issued his proclamation calling the Legislature of this Territory together on the 17th day of August next. The trial of Aaron Burr, has as yet progressed but little, owing (as is supposed) to the absence of gen. Wilkinson, who was a material witness;-- by the last papers we learn that he has arrived at the city of Richmond, and we may now shortlv expect to be able to give
our readers the final issue of this
important cause.
LATEST NEWS. New-York, June 10. The Paris papers received at the office of the Mercantile Advertiser, by the Calypso from Bordeaux, are to the 14th or Apiil, inclusive. They contain no later news from the armies than we have heretofore received : but they furnish intelligence from Turkey, which sets aside the report of the English having taken the Dardanelles ; and as this is the only article of consequence, we have confined oar translations to whatever relates to it.

tion of affairs, the greatest
military operations, which will render the year which has just commenced, the rnost celebrated, perhaps, of all that ancient or modern history has made us acquainted with. VIENNA, March 28. According to the last official accounts from Turkcy of the 3rd March, there was not only no treaty of peace made between the Porte, and the
Petersburgh, but even the negociations
English ambassador, Mr. Arbuthnot, were entirely broken off. and the pre-
parations for defence, on the part of the
Turks were most vigorously pursued.--Whether the English fleet returned to the Dardanelles, and whether, as some will af-
firm, it was forced only by a gale of wind
so, is not well known yet. The Turkish fleet which was taken

HAGUE, April 16. According to the latest intelligence from
the north, it seems to be believed that Swe-
den is endeavoring to come to an accommodation with France: the inaction of the troops in Swedish Pomerania, and the dis-
contents which have broken out between
the Swedifh cabinet and the courts of Lon-
don and St. Petersburg, seem to give some
consistency to these rumors.

CONSTANTINOPLE, March 4. When the English ambassador had attemped in vain to frighten the Porte by threats, he determined by commence hisutilities. On the 29th January, he departed suddenly from Constantinople, together with all the English merchants, on board the Endymion, and failed for Tenados, where he was joined bay the English fleet of fourteen sails. The Ottoman Porte ordered to shut the passage the Dardanelles, and make preparations for defense, but the enemy were before hand with them. He passed the straights on the 19th February, and on the
20th, came in sight of Constantinople with
seven ships of the line, two frigates and two bomb-ketches. No measures had yet been
taken to defend the avenues of the city or
the entrance into the harbor.
A flag came in, and demanded in the name of the British ambassador, that the
French ambassador should be sent away,
that the Porte should declare herself the
ally of England and Russia - should deliver
to the English fifteen ships and fifteen
frigates, with their crews, and provisions
for sin months - should admit Russian gar-
ritions in the castles along the Bosphorus
and an English garrison in the castles of
the Dardanelles, and in Alexandria.
