December 22rf, 1823. Mr. JSfHeson ftVr*d the following resolution which wat* adopted by Jhhouse.

Unsolved, I*liat it i» the opinion of tMIs House that it is inexpedient either fo the purpose of vindicating public justice, or doing justice to the character of Judge Call, further to investigate the subject matter of his memorial presented to this House on the 22, mat.

REGISTER OFFICE. TERRE HAUTE, JANUARY 7, 1824.

The subject of internal navigation begins to receive that attention which its importance long since merited. The scheme of constructing a canal from the Ohio River to Chesapeake Bay is truly grand and worthy of the most vigorous exertions of our nation. The president while recommending this subject to the consideration of Congress, very properly extends it to a communication between

Lake Kne and the Ohio River. This is doing an act of justice which has too lon^ been omitted, and we hope that the national representatives will laj aside all local feeling md extend the hand of justice to the western country, which has so long been neglected

Our representatives in the national councils appear anxious 'o do their duty, and from the resolutions introduced by Mr. Jennings,*we have reason to hope that if will at least be discovered at Washington that there are such rivers in the west as tfee Wabash andiVIiami of the Lakes, which offer ffreat advantages properly improved ^The attention of •he^enerai gwera^ent nee turned to this subjerfj the principles of interest and n»tionaJlpo1|c^will force them to do it justice.

It will be observed that our representatives at Cdrydoh are not idle on this itaportaol subject.
