IMPROMPTU.
It is frequently asserted by our Republican friends, that Mr.'Fillmore is the candidate of the South, end that the convention which nominated him wan composed of delegates chiefly from the South, and that therefore he too is a section man, standing upon a sectional platform. Now to idioiv the falsity of this assertion, we giro the following table showing the delegates from the Slave and free Staten, also the number of votes cast, and for whom cast: .
We ate authorized to say that Francis Auki.vsos will be a candidate for Prosec tiling Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit,

Election Notice,
On Saturday night last, there was a Democratic pole raising in' Ghent, Kjv, where a targe number were in attendance from this county. A tall pole was raised, much whisky was used, and many men and boys were drunk. Old.and young men from this county, were drunk who were never seen in - such a disgraceful fix before. A large number of them were laying around in oin streets and stables that night, icing too Jntnk to walk! But this was not all. If they had only, taken too much of the Old Line platform, and quietly enjoyed their "glorious Democracy" in the gutters and stables, ;il would not have been quite so bad. But the scenes of riot and carousing , were almost without a parallel in.our quiet (own.— The hideous yells and. curses of intoxicated men were fearful to behold. One of our principal streets was taken possession of, and Americans or Fillmore men q*ere forbidden to pass along the street.' Unoffending citizens, were insulted an J beaten, and even boys were abused by these infuriated Old Liners. Truly, on last Saturday night, we had a specimen of Democratic role, (he repetition oCwhich will cause our.citizens to fed that (heir lives and property are insecure in this communityThe Young Americans had made arrange ments to have a little innocent amusement by throwing turpentine balls in the street?, but they were not allowed llit* privilege. .Their' ball, were taken faun them by Old User* and stamped to piece*, and I lit* l»>), were forbid Jen to I'inch them at the rink ul Uielr live*.
