A New Star In the Literary Flrraantnt t SELLX BRA CKSX t A Dome*tic Talc of Forty Year* Ago. Uead ihe Critics opinion of Nelly; "It is beyond any American book of the present day. The genuineness of its sentiments, its perfect purity, and truth of its characters to nature, give U a higher.eminence among the books of the day, Oar readers have beard of an oasis in a desert—well, KeH ,ly Bracken is the oasis of the dreary dcs*tlof American female .literature or the present day.*'—X V. Courier ini Fn^uinr. "Unless we very much misjudge the value, it is destined to no mean rank among the original works of American fiction. It is a first effort, and Is one full of promise of yet greater excellence.’'— Batttn Attei. ' The authoress of Nelly Bracken is with ns a new, but by no means an' unwelcome acquaintance. Wq. have in cur library; those more noted, but none that wc should allow In crowd aside Amie Chambers Bradford, it matters not whether she be "sweet micea" nr the shady side of five and thirty.' The plot, sum and substance of this "tale of forty years ego," we have not time or space the present week to explain, and had we time even' it is lest that those who have a task* for well wrought narratives, should read, understand rind judge for themselves. The book is handsomely printed and contains 371 pages.—-Lutc-rente Journal. A fresh and glowing picture of iife in Kentucky, implied with a feeling very winning to the reader,— Winciesfeir Tiffin ton. , We like the preface and the book. The author's name is new to us, but she is evidently a writer of promise. The story is attractive, the style easy, graphic ami graaeful.— There is much beauty of sentiment and expression, and that mingling.cf humor and pathos, like bright rainbow* hues painted on tears, which is a characteristic with many of the masters of light literature.—Frederieltburgh Artet,.
