Jesse V. Short was allowed an order for 950, and a deed was executed by the Commissioners for lot No. 33 in original Vevay, for furnishing material and putting np house on poor farm, according to contract entered into at December Term, 1854; also, an order for §2, for extra work on said house.
In these latter days tho name of Washington is getting to bo very offensive to the “old lino” politicians —the opponents of the American Reform Party. As evidence of this fact, read tho following extract from an editorial in the New-York Tribune of March 2d. In speaking of tho Washington Monument, the editor sava :

G. L. Mead was allowed an order for $4,60 for furnishing provisions, <tc., for family of Richard Green, paupers. Wm. G. Krutx allowed an order for 92,89 for furnishing provisions for paupers. James Mead allowed on order for 98,4S for fum'shing provisions for paupers. Collin McNutt allowed an order for 82,40 for cash expended on behalf of paupers, mul services as overseer of the poor. The Board, in connection with the Clerk, selected Grand Jurors for May and November Terms of Circuit Court.

The Tribune is one of the leading “old line’* organs in the United States, and no doubt advocates the doctrine of the party in regard to the memory of Washington. The maxims and warnings of the Father of his Country, in rega.d to foreign influence, conflict with the views of ofilccscckers and demagogues, and hence their opposition to rearing a monument to his memory.

The Board examined the mortgages taken by (be Auditor in security of school fnmls loaned, and approved them. The Treasurer paid over $8,653 in county orders redeemed by him during last quarter, which were compared,with the books of the Auditor and Treasurer, and destroyed. The Hoard, Auditor and Treasurer, reported in substance as follows in relation to the school funds of this county to tho Auditor of State:
