Trouble lu Australia. 1 The difficulty which begun in Australia, a year or two ago, in regard to the license fee which the diggers of gold were tompetled to puy the government lias broken out afresh. At Brdlaarat the military have been attacked and beaten when feH ilea coring io enforce the license. About 4,000 df the diggers assembled afterwards and burnt their licenses, resolving nbt lb Submit to the system any longer, i’hey also resolved to resist the enlorcbfoent of the law, and to protect all who were arrested. The “Reform League," as these persons fityle themselves, also protested against the presence of soldiers among them. Bjr '(lie Lai. accounts, die colonial authorities Were endeavoring to enforce the laws, and had ordered the .whole military and police 'force to Bellas rat/’’The disaffection of the American colonies, which led to their in'dependence arose, from just such small beginnings. The Government had not .die 'foresight to conciliate the dissatisfied, but persisted* as at Hallaarat, in forcing odiaus enactments, upon the people at the poinf of 'thfi bayohet. Australia is in the incipient stages'of a revolution, and will be soon selling up for. itself, unless the colonial government acts more prudently and enlarges the ippresentative element, by which the majority’will be better heard.
