■ ■ TCIi® Pennsylvania Election. * Judge Pollock, who is elected Governor of Pennsylvania by 37,087 majority, received 24,966 more votes tnan were cast for General Scott in 1842; 26,064 more than were cast for Gov. Johnston in 1851; and 18,350 more than were cast for General Taylor in 1848. The total vote is the largest ever polled except that for President in 1852. The Philadelphia Bullelid says that Governor Bigler has lost nearly 20*000 of the friends who voted for him three years ago. Gov. Pollock apparently gaining all of them, as well as some thousands of new voters.— Judge Black, although reflected by a very largo majority over his highest com 1 pclitor, is 31,553 behind Pierce’s vote in 1852, and 10,408 behind Bigler’s vote in 1861. His entire vote is only 0 more than Bigler’s now is, and adding together the votes for Baird and Smyser, he is in an actual minority of 27,157. The prop 1 osition to enact a prohibitory liquor law is defeated by 5,108 Votes. The whole number of votes polled on this question is hut 321,852, or over 50,000 less than were polled for Governor.

jC5T Sir John Franklin’s Expedition, it will be remembered, consisted of two ships—the Erebus and the Terror. The Philadelphia Inquirer is of the opinion that the remains of all the property found thus far belonged to the crew of the Ere 1 Dns, Sir John Franklin; and that pot an article belonging to any member of the crew of the Terror, Captain Crozier, has yet been discovered. It is probable, therefore, that the two ships separated, and that either the craw of the Terror ate still alive, or perished in the sea north of our continent. It should also be observed that the Indians, in their account, speak of a ship, ahd not of ships, in connexion with the voyagers who wore seen by them. The hope of a single survivor is of course fa*nt, but let us cherish it to the last.

O' It would hardly do for any one to have the temerity now-o-days to question the excellence of Dr. Ilooflnnd’s German Bitters, which are prepared by Dr.C. M. Jackson. In cases of Dyspepsia, Liver Complaint, and derangement of the digestive organa, their many virtues have long since been made plainly apparent. Tie r purge from the system the morbid humors which retard, the natural funcliats, and bring' paleness to the cheek and suffering to the brow! They banish those clogs upon happiness, and restore the system to high health. See Advertisement

The church was a wreck, its windows broken and the roof destroyed. The illuminated clock was n min; but it was possible to tell by the pointers that the explosion had occurred at ten minutes past 3 o'clock. Everywhere the sound of wailing was heard. Men were in tears. Passing through the Observer office yard we heard tt woman lamenting bitterly the case of her child, on whom t)ie roof had fallen as it lay in bed. In Bridge street* a man was being carried on a board, almost lifeless, to the Infirmary. The streets were covered with furniture—beds, bedding, all descriptions of household area. The miserable owners were near their property, and anxiously inquiring after missing friends and relatives. As the day dawned the town was literally strewed, almost every street having had fragments af ruins hurled by the explosion, or caused by It, and the scene of wretchedness and lamentation of families who had lost friends dr property, may bo more readily imagined than described. The church-yards and every available refuge for the protection of household prop 1 erty are occupied on every side.

Another account. Biysi Tho sceflo presented in Dillgate and the neighborhood, ns soon rs tho inhabitants had recovered from’ the alarm and begun to ascertain what additional catastrophe had happened, was of the most heart-rending description. Ah omihOUs abd breathless calm for a moment succeeded tba fearful explosion. Then Were heard the shrieks and cries of women and children,, and persons of both sexes and all ages, many of whom had not been disturbed merely by tho fire, bat who ran into tho streets—they knew not why nor whither. Wounded persons were seen being carried out upon shutters, and conveyed to the Infirmary; children, With their Infant, limbs enveloped in their night-clothes, Were crying for their parents; and all hearts trembled with ah ill-defined apprehension that the wont had dot befilleh them.
