. Some time since we called attention to the importance of extending the telegraphic wires from Rising Sun to this place. We elated that the line would be extended here for 9100 per mile —which would make 92,500 for its completon to Ycvay, through Patriot and Florence; — this includes the patent, which would be some 9300 or 9400!
With the above we received an excellent cake, which was used by the printers in the uaaal way. We congratulate the couple on their union, and wish them health, wealth, and sunshine.

' —On the 23d Aug. 23d, by Rev. Amos S. Downey, Mr. Owen Richmond and Miss Mery Jane Shafer.
We are - authorized to state, that the line can be leased when finished, if desired by the stockholdeers, at *6 per cent per annum, and the line kept iu repair—which would make the stock par at first; as the business would annually increase, it would soon pay the owners a higher per cent. Can Vevay raise 91500? We think so, with all ease. Wo understand that they will raise 9500 at Patriot, and $250 or, $300 ■ at Florence; and Capt. French has stated that they vvmuld subscribe 6500 at Rising Sun/jather than not have the connection with Vevay. With these facts before them, arc not our citizens ready to move in ,11ns matter? If this liberal proposition is accepted, it must be done l*y the 20th of October; after that time it could not bo completed before disagreeable weather would set in, and therefore would cost more to construct the work.

Sabdv/h School Mobbed.—A Sabbath school in (he die north-western part.of onr city, conducted by the Methodists has been greatly troubled lately by (be persecuting interference of Romanists. Not long since the room was broken into by Romanists, and the most shameful indecencies committed. The conductors of the scool, not wishing to eicite the opposition of iutj enemies, moved into another building, but still within the limits of the Romanist neighborhood. It soon became evident (hat this did not give satisfaction to (he inquisitors; the school must be moved out of the neighborhood entirely* The Teachers went quietly on in the discharge of their duties,'white the Romanj ists iaved and threatened until the police iwere called upon for protection. This had its desired effect in the immediate vicinity of the school; but in anuihcr neighborhood, the school being defended in its course by two Americans, the German lopposers commenced an attack on the Americans and a general row ensued. Several guns were fired, and three'Americans were wounded. This aroused the indignation of the Americans, and they -pitched in" to several German Coffee (User) Houses, and pitched out the furniture, decanters, glasses, etc., doing considerable damage on the premises. * Wo have mado* particular Inquires; ahd ■ are satisfied that the teachers of the Sabbath school referred to had nothing to do with the Utter transactions, and througn the whole have manifested every disposition m go on in a quiet, inoffensive man* jnei with their sctiuol. But the Romanlists will not let them; A muss (hey were determined to have, and a muss they have had. If they have “ appealed unto Csei sat lei them go." We would not encourtegs rimuus proceedings, but if the Romanlists commence 1 1, as they invariably do j who can regret if they gsuhe wotsi bf it. jlf we were a Jesuit, Wo Should advise the •GaihoIM to keep remarkably still in ibis city ; for let the American population once see that act inoffensive Sabbath School cannot be conducted without molestation jby Romanists, anil we would not insure -the Cadiedral, or any other Catholic ! Church in Cincinnati, for ninety-nine per [cent on the cost of the building.—Cincth- : Dali 76.
We hope the citizens of Uub place and vicinity will move in this matter immediately; and, if deemed necessary, we will call a meeting of those citizens who fuel interested in the matter, and lay before them the propositions of the gentlemen who propose to build the line, and lease it after its completion.
