.This question is asked concerning the property of every rich raid that diet, and it was answered very happily by Cloots, who was executor upon the eilate of the late Mr. Snodgrass. His neighbor, Mr. Nkiirod, was an exceedingly inquisitive man, and it was his pride that he knew as much almost, of the affairs of people ol his heighhurbnod, as they did themselves, But .Mr. Snodgrass had never been com* municathe, ami all that he could glean ol his circumstances was from the guesses and speculations of outsiders. The d.iy after Us neighbor had been pul into the earth, Natlrod visited Cloots, and with an excepting face, begun to question him: ■■Mr. Clouts,” says he "if it is mu improper—1 wouldn’t wiih to ask tin question if it is the least impropper nor expect you to answer it—will you inform me how much my particular friend Snodgrass left!”

Comets.
»‘Tbe extraordinary comet now blazing in the northwest, authorizes a notice of the nature of .comets, and their, probable contact with'the earth or other planets hi their advance or retreat from the suit.” Comets are Vast masses of pure ethereal matter, so light and filmy that nothing on this earth can be compared with them. It hu been calculated dial if a comet were condoned into the thickness of the earth’s atmosphere, it would not occupy more than from one Mo three cubic inches. This apparent nucleus or body is altogether filmy; for through the very heart of a comet of considerable brightness stars of the 16th magnitude have been descried.
