The city council Monday night agreed "To give $500 toward the construction of the Brownlee bridge, and that structure is now assured. The provisions are that there must be a walk on each side of the bridge not less than four feet wide, that the bridge must be the best of its kind to be made, and that it must be completed by. cold weather. The bridge will cost 'about $6,000. It was felt by the council that the new bridge will be of more value to the

west Harrison, Elliott Ave. and west Madison streets. The city engineer is to make the grades and the city attorney to make the ordinance covering the matter. Councilman Swindell explained the Kalamazoo system of caring for the garbage of the city. There a company furnishes the cans for the people and takes the garbage away once or twice a week as necessary. They have one can for garbage and one for ashes. The charge is 50c a month where they take the garbage and ashes both away, and 35c where only the garbage is taken away. The council thought the Kalamazoo plan a good one, and are trying to work out something as good or similar for Plymouth. J V Astley was granted permission to place building material on west Washington street. A.C. Kring asked for grade where he has built a sidewalk on Elliott avenue. City Valuation is $1,803,000 County Auditor Walker reported the valuation of the city to be $1,803,000. This is approximate, as the valuation placed on railways and similar corporations is not yet fixed by the state board."
