Christian Endeavor Society organized a few weeks ago atthf, M. P.' church shows great life. It Is hoped that they may each adhere to their pledge and keep at work. There is no greater auxiliary to the church than the C. E.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Joslin celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary at their home near Lapaz
on Sunday, June 4th. They had with them their children, grand
children and other relatives and the day was spent in talking of the past, present and future. Several songs were sung and recitations were given by the younger people. Those present from a distance were C. R. Noble of Promise City, Iowa; John Beard and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Schuman and daughter Lucille of Columbia City; Miss Fannie Wener of. South Bend; Mrs. Cyrus Wener and family and Miss Blanche Dilley of Bremen; Mrs. Leah Eversole, Mrs. Ida Burger, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Joslin, all of Lapaz. At the close of the days celebration O. D. Harbaugh was called upon to take a view of the crowd which good naturedly stood or sat patiently to be snapped, all except Mr. Joslin, who refused to sit in a rocking chair, saying he did not propose to sit in one till he was old
enough to need one. Mr. Joslin will be 79 years old this coming September and is as spry as many at 60. Mrs. Joslin is in her 74th year. They moved to their present home from Whitley county in 1865 and settled in the thick woods and endured all the hardships of the early pioneers. They received many useful and beautiful presents from their children and others. All departed at a late hour hoping to meet again.
Mrs. Nancy Bayman. The funeral of Mrs. Nancy Bayman was held in South Bend Wednesday morning and the body was brought here on the Vandalia at
11:01 for burial at the Stringer cemetery. There was a review of
the remains at the depot. Rev. C. W. Logan officiated at the interment.
