CIVIC CLUB BELIEVE THIS METHOD WILL SAVE CTY IN CLEANING AND KEEP v HOUSES CLEAN NOT AN UNTRIED PLAN Interesting Meeting of Social Study Organization at Home of Mr and Mrs. Snoeberger Monday Night. The Plymouth Civic Club believes the dirt streets of the city should be oiled to keep down the dust'. That was the one definite thing done at the meeting Monday night. i motion of Mr. Geo. HJ Thayer a .mittee was appointed to get all the information possible on the subject and submit this information to the city council for their consideration. The committee is Messrs. A. R. Underwood, Geo. II. Thayer, 'J. D. McCoy, W. F. Suit. The decision of the club came up over a discussion of a practical plan of cleaning the city. It is, thought that by oiling the dirt streets dust can be kept from blowing into the houses and the-housekeepers be greatly helped in keeping clean house. A large number were present at the meeting, which was held at. the palatial home of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Snoeberger. After a beautifully rendered solo by Miss Blanche McCoy, Mr. Milner talked briefly on improvements needed in Plymouth. He suggested some sort of park system for the ac commodation of visitors. Mrs. F. E. Garn reviewed a number of magazine articles. Among the im portant ones was one in the , Metro politan about how the people were be ing fleeced by stock selling concerns. The Government bv a strict enforce ment of the postal laws had put eighty of these out of business, that iad sold $1,000,000 of worthless sto. 3 the people. Mr. Stone in the same! : : t. iui;aiiuc ja v tiling ix uuuiucr ui stringent articles against Theodore loovsevelt asking T. R to please answer a n um Der ot very pointed quesions. Others were on Washington's sense of humor, in the Century; where we stand in opera, etc. Miss Fern Snoeberger sang very sweetlv "If I Were a Rose." Mr. cleaner city, and nearly all these present made short remarks on the subject. The fact that the city council had provided a dumping place for garbage pleased the club; but the takiny away of the garbage is. next to be considered. Some who have furnaces burn all of it in the winter. The plan in many larger cities of washing the brick streets every, night was told about but it was thought this mijrht be too expensive for Plymouth Mr. Thayer said that he and Mr. Clizbe had been studying the proposition of cleaning the paved streets by means of a large vacunm cleaner machine. They thought this was the ideal plan but that so far they had not been able to find a machine which would do the work. The present method of a man with a broom and dustpan was the best, unless a vacum cleaner can be found The Misses Boss sang a duet, which was encored. After this refreshments were served lUe coffee being m.de .n an electric percolotor, which interests the lad:.Ji.
