Rest weary traveller. YVc yesterday morning received via Liverpool, England! a letter mailed on the 10th February at Albion,
Orleans county, state of New York, containing a remittance to this paper. The superscription in a clear, distinct hand, to our address "in New York City." The letter was post paid. How it got to Liverpool and howit got back, we wot not; but the seals are unbroken and the money safe as the party remitting it, who had written to inquire why no acknowledgement had been made from this office, will be glad to learn. The Liverpool post mark is of the 18th March. .V I'. American.
Southern Chivalry. Mr. Jesse Speight, of North Carolin, made the following speech upon an abolition petition, presented to Congress by M. Sladc of Vermont: ' I have a rc spect lor you, Mr Speaker, and nothing but that respect prevents me from rushing to that table, and tearing that memorial into a thousand pieces.' No respect for the constitution, for the sacred right of petition, for a conscientious difference of opinion O no! What docs this slaveholding plunderer care for any of these? Not a rush." But respect for the Speaker, (a man-thieving confederate,) and that alone, prevented him from acting the part of a Goth or Vandal, in destroying a memorial of certain freemen against slavery! This is the same chivalrous Speight who returned the protest of the American Anti-Slavery Society against a portion of the President's message, enclosing n piece of rope for the benefit of Mr. Tappan.
