Lost Mail. In our last, we neglected to notice the lost mail. On Tuesday morning

the 25th inst., after the heavy rain of the night before, the mail carrier between Yevay and Madison, in attempting to cross Indian-Ken lucky creek, was swept away with the flood, and with much difficulty and the aid of the horse, he get ashore, but the mail bags weie swept away from him.

After a perscvoimir search of more than

two days the mail hags were found, and taken

to the nearest post office, where the packages

were taken out and dried, and lound to be literally unii.jured. Much praise is due to mr. Cummins, the mail contractor, who promptly

repaired to thc scene, and used much personal

exertion to recover the mail.
