Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Franklin county, Indiana, dated Oct.
25, 1832 'We have had one of the most destructive tornadoes that was ever witnes-
sed since the first settlement of the country. It passed over the valley of White water, sweeping diagonally across my farm, just escaping my buildings, and has laid every thing prostrate in its track.

land, the next door neighbor, had his

It happened about four o'clock in the
morning, of the 10th inst while the rain descended in torrents. No lives were
lost. The wife of Mr. Giltner was much
bruised by the falling walls and timber,
but is in a fair way to recover. From
