In lh other particulars, the above details are nearly correct. Easiness in Galena was entirely suspended, and the families in the surrounding country wre moving in for protection. As a proof of the rapidity with w hich the Indians traverse th- c umin, it is stated, that a runner from the Black Hawk and his allies, beariig to the Missouri Indians news of the defeat of the militia, arrived at the Des Moines Rapids, 'wenty four hours before the expresB sent by Gov. Columbus, May 26. Frequent enquiries are made of us to know what has been done by the Supreme Court with the case of John Jones; in answer to which it may be necessary to state for the satisfaction oi those residing t a distance, that in consequence

of an act of the late legislature for changing

the time ot holding said court, it did not set as u-

Jones' case will probably be disposed cf by the ourt on the first day of the term; and the result will not likely be known here before Tuesday night or Wednesday morning following. If the proceeediog of the circuit court should not be illegal, and a pardon should not be granted by the governor, h will have to undergo the sentence of (he law on Friday next.
