A Halifax paper mentions the follow ing par t:culats respecting tue hipwreck by which more thau t-xo hundred and fifty lives sere lost at Cape Hay, on the JVevcJound land coast : The ship Lady Sherbrooke, 377 tons burthen. Henry Gambles, master, owned at Newcastle, frorn Londonderry, bound to Quebec, with 285 passengers, and a crew of 15 person, sailed on the 4th of June from Londonderry nothing occurred until the night of the 1 9th of July, when at 1 2 o'clock, one of the seamen called out from ihe forecastle that there were rocks on the lee now. Instantly all was confusion on board those below ru-hed upon deck an a'tempt was made to tiick the ship, but the wind was so light, and the ground swell so great, that it failed the ship backed on the rocks, and in less thau ten minutes, was completely broken up. A scene of the must harrowing description then took place. Three hundred human beings were strug glmg for existence. The boats, tilled with people, v.eie upset in the surf, and the few saved, the captain, mate, 3 seamen, and 27 passengers, clung to part of the wreck, or were fortunately cast by the waves on some cliffs.
