Churches Co-Sponsoring Instructional Workshop On Puppets As Teaching Aid
Tlie various churches in the area of North Liberty and Walkerton are co-sponsoring an evening workshop on puppets as a means of assisting teachers in Sunday Schools to use this method of teaching with boys and girls. Mrs. Clyde Messeguie of South Bend will be the leader of the group and will demonstrate how various types of puppets are made and how they can be used with children. She will also give instruction on the type of stor les that adapt themselves to this media and the criteria for story self tion. So tiiat the people in the audience will better understand how to make puppets, she will bring material and supplies for them to use; by actually making a puppet (cork-head or clay-head puppet i under the direction of Mrs. Resseguie, the teacher will have mere confidence in teaching others. Mrs. Resseguie will be assisted by Mrs. O. C. Hartman, who hvill demonstrate the technique of puppets with pre-school and kindergarten children—using the paper sack demonst- tion. Miss Weber will briefly outline the principles of impromptu dramatics as it is related to this field. Roy Allen was the losing pitcher for Powell-Mann. Tuesday night, the Walkerton Lanes romped to the 11-2 win over Hiatt' s with a big 7 run seventh inning icing up the game. Don Ludkvig was the winning pitcher and Jake Baron was the loser.
