Our community was visited by a terrific electrical storm late Saturday evening, accompanied bby a hailstorm. Just west of 23 at the lake, three ponies owned by a hailstorm. Just west of 23 field, wore struck by lightning and found dead Sunday morning. The loss was estimated at S6OO. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gjemro Sr., entertained the following guests with a picnic on their lawn last Sunday: Mrs. Richard Thomas and son, Jerry, Farmington, Mich., and other relatives from 1 there; also Mr. and Mrs. William Kennedy, Bruce Damman and Miss Johnson of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. King, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Cain, Mr. and , Mrs. Clarence Reid, Brian Kuhls. Chuck Shaffer, Dave Keiper, Mr and Mrs. Harry Fries, spent Friday and Saturday in Clinton, where they attended the annual convention of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman’s Association. The band from the G rovertown High School were in Clinton on Saturday where they participated in the parade, winning a trophy for 3rd prize among the high school bands in the state. George and Adlen King, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. King, spent several days In South Bend as guests of Mrs. Nelle Lebo and Mrs. Virgil Eaton. Scott King was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Kail Brust, at Winamac, for a few days. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oren Duthie and family were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Erickson, daughter Carolyn and son. Bill, of Palatine, Illinois, and Mrs. Anna Olson, Norway, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Edw. DeVos and children entertained Mr. and Mrs. Norman Liggett and son, Ronnie, of’ South Bend, last Sunday. ter, Vicki, attended the graduation exercises at the Ball State Teachers College last Sunday evening where George received his B.A. degree. Andy Koval and Vi Arrigo of Whiting, spent Friday at the lake as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Barbarick. At the convention of the Volunteer Firemen at Clinton, Harry Fries was re-elected secretary and will begin serving his 7th year in this capacity. This organization reported over 6,000 members at the convention. Bill Blaisdell, Walkerton boys' 4-H leader, called for the square dance and was accompanied by Mrs. Al Killian of Tyner. Other adults in attendance were Norman Ehresman, Madison 4-H leader, Mrs. Phil Kojlar, Walkerton girls’ leader, and Mig. Howard Clingenpeel.
