general secretary of the Womans Division od* Christian Sendee of the Board of Missions. Presiding over all the business sessions will be Bishop Richard O. Raines, bishop of this area of Methodism. He, also, will meet with the District Superintendents of the five districts of Northwest. Indiana Conference to arrange for the appointing of the ministers for the new conference year. Bishop Raines will preach at the Sunday morning worship service which will be at 10:45 o'clock in the Music Hall on thp campus. This is always a highlight of the conference when Methodists and friends gather from all over the area to worship and fellowship together, then to listen to the inspirational message from their bishop. The closing gathering of the body of Methodism for this occasion will be at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the Music Hall for the Ordination Sendee. At this time, candidates in the ministry who are to be ordained deacon and elder receive this advancement in their theological orders. At the close of this part of the service the Bishop will read the appointments of the ministers of the Northwest Indiana Conference, thus affixing the appointments for another confercneco year. The Methodist system is an appointive one, made effective from one year’s conference to another. There is no stated limit of years of being reappointed to the same church. - Every church will be represented by at least one lay person as lay member of the Annual Conference. This person will be privileged to vote and to express voice upon all business sessions, except the one closed session for ministers alone. From the Methodist Church in Walkerton Mrs. Genevieve Dailey will be the lay member to the conference. She will accompany Rev. and Mrs. J. Kemp Tunis to the conference and will remain throughout the sessions. Mrs. Tunis will be in attendance at the annual Ministers’ Wives Luncheon. This is always a looked for event for the ladies of the parsonage. Mrs. Richard C. Raines, wife of the bishop, always adds charm and inspiration to this occasion.
