Merchants Win 16-6 Slugfest The Walkerton Merchants won 'their third game in four starts Sunday as they blasted out a 166 slugfest over Tippecanoe, who hid previously beaten them by the closest of margins, 1-0. The Merchants banged out 20 hits, paced by a 5-hit performance by Gil Cochrane. Johnny South chipped in with four hits, and Jim Martin, Bill Justice and Junior Allen all added two hits to the winning cause. Denny Loucks and Clifford Allen pitched the game for Walkerton. allowing the 6 runs on 11 hits. Ixiucks getting credit for the win.

The Sherman team is one of the better teams in this area and are coached by Jim Reinhold, Green Twp. coachTO Attend Science Institute At IU Michael Glenn Heimer, Rt. 1, Walkerton, has been selected among 120 students who will receive an advance view of college science through participation in the High School Science Institute June 19-July 2 at Indiana University. The selectees are all outstand-

ing science students who will be high school seniors next fall, chosen from more than 400 applicants. They will observe and hear lectures on basic research by distinguished I. U. scientists, and will do laboratory and field work under their direction. The Institute is financed by a grant from the National Science Foundation. About 40 of the students will be selected to remain at I. U. for a six week research Participation Program, «in which they will work in research laboratories, receiving a small stipend plus room and board and expenses.
