POLICE NEWS Five men. three from Waller, ton and two from Bremen .Ind paid fines this past week for violations of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, resulting on Saturday, the 16 of April, but which just came before the local Justice of the Peace this past week Lynn Malstaff, route 3. am l Carlos Kelly, 605 Van Buren St . w<*n* arrested on the above date for public intoxication They both pleaded guilty to the charge and paid a fine and costs totaling $17.00. William Heltzel and James Garland, both of Bremen, and Clifford Bowling. 1109 Ohio St, were arrestee! the same day for disoredrly conduct by the same । omplainant They appeared Saturday when the three pleaded guilty to the charges and each of the three paid the sl7 00 line and costs total. W mda Lowry route 1, and Dorothy Leedy, route 3. were involved in a property damage accident on April 27 on U. S. 6, cast of Walkerton. Ix>wry was heading east on 6 and was making a right hand turn onto Union Road when the car driven by Leedy struck her from behind. Damages mainly were done to the right rear section of the Lowry automobile. Michael Heimer, route I, was bitten by a dog belonging to John Newland, breaking the skin on his leg He was treated for the bite and the dog is under the usual observation period. Carlos Kelly, 605 Van Buren St , reported to the police that on May 2. while his car was parked in the alley behind the 600 block of Roosevelt Road, it was broken into by forcing tlx* air vents open, and two stuffed animals were taken from the ear This happened between 11 50 p in. and 12:10 am. on May 3. The animals were a three ft. stuffed rabbit and a sn aller stuffed dog Civil Service Examination An examination for the positions of office clerk or city delivery carriers for the Walkerton Post Office : s now open unt.l May 10, 1960. The examination is open to both male and female. Applicants must have reached the 18th birthday before closing date. The starting salary at Walkerton Post Office is $2 00 per hour. Clerk or city carriers hired by the Walkerton Post Office in the future will be selected from the register of ehgibley resulting from this examinatc n. Large Turnout For B. & P. W. Meeting Unusual bonnets was the conversation piece talk at the meet big of the Walkerton B isiness mid Professional Women’s Chin last Thursday evening. Each guest was asked to bring an old hat. These were put in paper bags and placed on the chairs at each place. They wen* opened and donned when the guests wei<* seated for a delicious chicken dinner.
