I Band Wins First In District Contest If you were amused by one o’ Walkerton's fire trucks last Saturday evening, it wasn't bc< an i■ of a fire, it was an escort for om returning high school band as they continued their winning ways by receiving a Fir>t Division Rating in the class 'V competition o the NISBOVA District Band Contest at Merrillville, Ind. By earning the First last Satirday, the hand earned the right o enter the State competition thr mmmg Saturday at Concord Township High School, in Elkhart county. There were eleven bands in competition with Walkerton, but the Walkerton band came home with the highest rating from th? three judges. This is something that the entire community can be proud of Now let'g let the band members know we are pulling for them this Saturday as they participate n the State Contest. POLICE NEWS Six arrests ended in fines for the violators, 4 in cafeteria court ard two in the court of the Justice of the Peace, and one minor accident was also reported during the past week. This case was reported la/ week as an accident. Clyde Gaw, 814 Ohio St., paid a fine of SI.OO for illegal parking on March 31. Plans Easter Egg Hunt Once again Place Park and th' ,High School lawn will be the scene of an intensive Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday as the Walkerton Volunteer Fire Department plans once again for thi.i annual event The Egg Hunt will be held on Easter Sunday, Ap:i! 17, at 2:00 p. m. There will be hunts fc,r all age/ of kids up to 12 years of age. bracketed according to age. In addition to many candy eggs, there will be 37 spec ial prize eggs. This should be a high point in the services with perhaps 40 voices. The choir is under the direction of R N I^Feber, Donald Weil, Mrs. Arthur McKesson and Mrs. Bortha Urbin. Special songs will be “The Palms" and ' How Great Thou Art".
