Book Review Thrills Club The book review "Batchlor's Baby” was enjoyed by thirty-one members und one guest Friday afternoon when the Woman’s Community Chib met in the Communi ty Building'. Mrs, B. F. Leiser. past president of the St. Joseph County Federation of Women’s Clubs, of South Bend, gave the program and held the attention of her audience so well that when she had finished her story each one who heard her felt that she had been eye-witness to all the events and had personally known Oliver Custer, bachelor, playboy and real estate tycoon, Custor Was ahsoi dely helpless without his secret v. Miss Mason. When She married and had to leave the office becac.-e she was going -to have a baia everything went badly for Oliver until it meant setting up a i.ursery and giving the baby priority over all things, even the bachelor’s affection and time. Seven new members were voted into the club They are Mrs. William, Carter, Mrs. Bryce Rohrer, Mrs, Harland Lancaster, Mrs. J, Kemp Tunis, Mrs. Roy Helm, Mrs. Edward Peterson and Mrs. Harold Swanson. It was decided to help the ether organizations who use the Town Club to purchase a new refrigerator and Mrs. David Lawrence was appointed to represent «the club. I singing at the meetings. I Mrs. David Lawrence introduced I Mrs. John Davis of Tyner who sang "PTiend of Mine’’, “The Little " Damozel” and “Love Never Faileth”, Mrs. Dwight Thompson also ' of Tyner, accompanied her on the piano. The club is grateful to Mrs. Lawrence for bringing this talented singer and it is hoped she will ’intake a return appearance. Aftei ’;the program tea was served during ' the social hour by the hostesses, |Mrs. Jo Campbell. Mrs, B. L. Furst, 1 Mrs. Emmet. Eiler and Mis. Jack ’iHannegan. Mrs. Ed Brookei prei sided at the tea table. P.T.A. Opens With Pot Luck Dinner The first meeting of the P.T.A. J was held last Thursday evening in I the Methodist Church basement. I I ilt opened at 6:30 with a pot luck I supper attended by 120 parents, teachers and children. Many famil- , ies came after the meal also, and this is encouraging to the teachers to have so many parents interested. This will be an active and interesting year for all. Mrs. Clyde Snodgrass, president opened the meeting, followed by the pledge of allegiance to our country’s flag. Repot ts were given by Mrs. Walter Johnson, secretary, and Mrs. Denslow Doll, treasurer. Executive committee members and room mothers were introduced. Mr. Eiler introduced the teach--1 ers. Mr. Eib and Mr. Gwin, prin- ' cipals, both spoke briefly. It was announced that the Polio Clinic will be held October 3rd from 2 to 6 p. m. The Fish Fry will be October 17th. 'I Dennis Johnson pantomimed a I Ricky Nelson record. Laurie Chapman entertained with several tap numbers. A fine baton twirling demonstration was given by Linda |Keck. A quartet of grade school [girls, Linda Pontius, Linda O’Con!nor, Karen Gilette, and Sharon ; Ullery, sang several numbers. ’| A feat unprecedented in WalkcrI ton closed the program in a dei light fu) manner.
