Mr. and Mrs. Orin Shuler accomspent the week end with Mr. and Mrs, David Mellin and family. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wenzel of Mr. and Mrs. John Leinert of Chicago spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Walkerton visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Haroia Whitaker and granddaughters, Marilyn and Linda, spent, three day s touring the Cumberland Mts., the Smoky Mts., and a Cherokee Indian reservation. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Shuler spent several day s in Baltimore, Md., as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lar y Smith and baby. Mr. Smith will b e in Pittsburgh, Penn., for four weeks where he will enter a training period for Westinghouse. Claude Lemert fell Sunday while playing baseball and broke his left knee. He will be in a cast from his hip to his ankle for at least three weeks. Mrs Arthur Schmeltz, Mrs. David Mellin, Mrs. Stanley Orcutt, Mrs. Gene Eib. Mrs. Don Weil and Mrs. Emmet Eiler attended a style show and card party given by the Delta Beta Phi Sonority of New Carlisle Thursday evening. Moonlight Cabaret Dance to be held at St. Patrick’s School grounds Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 to 12. Refreshments are offered and the music will be by Paul Futa's Harmoniers. Tickets are available from Father Letko or may be purchased at the door, donation 75c per person.

Lt. and Mrs. Charles Jansen of San Antonio, Texas, spent several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ross, of Koontz Lake. Sunday guests of Mrs. Wilferd Irwin were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Irwin and Sally of Warsaw. Monday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Atwood of Louiseville, Ky. Wednesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cavin were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hayden of Michigan City. Downers Grove, 111., were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller. Mrs. Albert Huhnke Sr. has been to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., for a check up. Mrs. Albert Huhnke Jr. accompanied her. Mr. Edward Scarborough of Knox, was pleasantly surprised on Monday, Sept. 14th in honor of his 80th birthday ,when friends and relatives came to help him celebrate the event. Those present were Mrs. Mary Ardnt of Hamlet, Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Watkins; Mr. and Mrs. Pete O’Dell and children, Mrs Evelyn Anspaugh and Frances of Walkerton; Mr. and Mrs. Earl James, Mrs. Edna Cunningham, Arden Baska of Hanna; Mis Norma Singleton and sons of North Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Scarborough and Mrs. Lide Smith of Knox. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hopper । took their son, Bill, to college at Clarksville, Arkansas, Saturday. They spent several days there at the College of the Ozarks. Mr. and Mrs. Charhe Steinke spent several days in Detroit. They attended the Great Lakes Shriners Convention. Harry Doll and Robert Cripe al«o attended the convention. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Klepach and daughter, Janice, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cotton were callers in the home of the Jay Cottons, Robert Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Minter, has enlisted in the Air Force and is stationed at Lackland Field, San Antonio, Texas. | Mr. and Mrs. John Geyer of East j Chicago, spent ten days at the ! lake cottage of James Edgar. The Geyers had just returned from a six week stay in Orlando, Fla., 1 visiting Nassau, Bahamas. They ■ also visited with the Barbaricks 1 while at the lake. While the men attended a hardware convention at Navy Pier, i the others saw a Cinerama movie at tire Palace Theat’e. They all ! enjoyed supper at the Glass House on the Toll Road on the way home Dr. Herbert Miller and family were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Hershberger and Janice Sunday at Lake Wawasee. Mary Bauer is vacationing in Sante Fe. New Mexico, at the home cf her sister.
