Mr. and Mrs. Robert Erwin of Coconut Grove, Florida, spent the week end with Mrs. Wilfred Erwin. । Mr .and Mrs. Ervin Schwartz' and Mr. and Mrs Raymond Schwartz were Thursday evening! supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer and Craig. The infant daughter of Mr. and llrs. Norris Bussie is improving । in Children’s Hospital in Chcago. She was taken there shortly after pirth for surgery. Noel Heim, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Heim, is a patient in Memorial hospital, South Bend. Noel has virus pneumonia. Last Novem- 1 ber he had a ser.ous heart operation in Children's hospital, Chica- j go. He is much better now and expects to be home, in a few days.'

Mrs. Charles Bellinger, Mrs. Fred Bellinger and Mrs. Fred Kassabaum will be the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knowlton, Sharon and Gene, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur DeMyer and Craig, spent the week end in Springfield. 11l .They visited Lincoln's New Salem i State Park, and Lincoln's home in Springfield, also other historical ilandmarks in the vicinity. On Sunday evening a play, "The Duff Armstrong Murder Trial” was enjoyed at the New Salem Park. Kelso Hollow Theatre. The members of the cast were the men’s Rotary Club, of Beardstown, 111. ENTERTAINS AUXILIARY ■ Mrs. Harry Ryan will be hostess , to the American Legion Auxiliary j Thursday evening, August 6. Any- | one wishing to ride meet at the ’ Legion Home. i Commitees will be appointed for ' installation ceremonies which Will be held August 20. Don't forget the Legion and Auxiliary picnic to be held Sunday, August 9 at Culver. A good time is in store for everyone.

( John Drew celebrated his 7th birthday Monday, August 3. with a : birthday dinner, a swim party and play time. It was loads of fun. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Evans and 1 sons, of Hebron, visited Mrs. Ev-! Jans’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Williams, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Williams is able to be up part time following her auto accident July 12th. Mrs. Virgil Guthrie was admitted to Holy Family hospital. i j OPTIMISTS CLUB PICNIC The Optimist Club held a delightful picnic last week at the home of Mrs. Edward Hostetler. X delicious carry-in chicken dinner was featured at noon. A business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. John Hewitt, after which tables were placed for games. Everyone received a prize. Mrs. Frank Becker received an attendance award. Mints and cooling drinks were enjoyed during play. Homer Shaw and Louis Uhlemann were guest s for the day of Mr. Hostetler. The men enjoyed games of pinochle.

Mr. and , Mrs. James Reed, spent the week end in Ash Flat. Arkansas, visiting Mr. and Mr.s. Maurice Huff and family. Mrs. Huff, who is a 'sister of Mrs. Rush and Mrs. Reed, | [is ill. [ ! I Mr. and Mrs. Leo Savoie and family had Mr. Savoie's sisters as guests for several days. They are Sisters of the St. Joseph Order, j Salina, Kansas. Sister Mary Lucienne, Sister Mary Robert and Sister Frances Alma. Mrs. Savoie and her guests left on Sunday for Saute St. Marie, Michigan, to visit their parents. Mr. Savoie and two daughters joined them there on Saturday. They all returned last Monday. The Nuns left Tuesday for Salina, Kansas, I I
