) To Enter School ■ IE -'« RONALD G. LaBERE SAN DIEGO, Calif. -Scheduled to complete recruit training at the Marine Cork’s Recruit Depot. San Diego, Cahf., April 20th is Ronald G. Laßere, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Laßere cf 605 Monroe St., Walkerton. The ten-week course covers military drill, first aid. personal hygiene, Marine Corps history, and defense against chemical and atomic attack. The final three weeks are spent on the rifle range where the M-l rifle is fired for qualification. Upon completion of training, the new Marines are either assigned to a unit for further infantry training, or to a Marine Corps school. Hostetter, Mellin Win Tourney Honors The Liberty Lanes House Bowling Tourney held Saturday and Sunday was almost a two-man affair, not including the team event. Stan Hostetler and Dave Mellin, both of Walkerton, walked off with all the first places in singles, doubles, handicaps, allevents and scratch all events. Chuck's Sinclair, a New Carlisle team, w<« the team event to complete the first place winners. The top team score was 3026 for Chuck's Sinclairs. For this they each received a small individual trophy in addition to a large team trophy for the team. In doubles. Hostetler and Mellin combined ter a 1265 total to win top money and a trophy each. A 698 singles score by Hostetler edged a second place finish by one pin in the closest event of the tourney. Mellin totaled 1956 for the nine games to win all events. Trophies were given fcr both of these events also. Hostetler for a 1746 scratch allAn electric roaster, donated by Modem Electric, was won by events in the tourney. This represents a 194 average during the nine game grind.
