p«rwna|| k Mr. and Mrs. A. A Wills and three daughters of Joliet 111., have been the guests of Mrs. Nellie Wills. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dye are the parents of a daughter horn August 29th in the Osteopathic hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Charles Wishart is returning to Mattoon, 111., after three weeks of caring for her daughter, Mrs. Harold Weller and little granddaughter, Collette Nancy. Mr. and Mrs. Art Stickley and daughter of South Bend were Sunday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weller and family and Mrs. Deborah Weller. Mrs. R. W. Wolfram and Miss Beulah Young, South Bend, Miss Alice Fox of Madison, Wise., Mrs. Frank Kramer, Mrs. Nina Taylor, Mrs. Foster Rearick and Mrs. C. M. Finch were luncheon guests of Miss Helen Goppert Wednesday at Maxinkuckee Inn, Culver. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reeder have returned from a tour of the Black Hills, S. Dakota. While there they visited Mt. Rushmore, the Needles, Sylvian Lake and the graves of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane at Deadwood. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Reeder and son Stanley who will remain there. Roger is teaching at the Sturgis high school the coming year. Charles VanWanzeele was very pleasantly surpprised Sunday in his home when Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Meyerjack. of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Albert VanWanzeele and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Marcelien VanWanzeele entertained with a dinner in his honor. Guests were his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. August Van Wanzeele, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Van Wanzeele, Mr. and Mrs. Cyriel Matthys. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Matthys, Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Van Wanzeele, Mr. and Mrs. Rene Van Wanzeele, all of South Bend. A social afternoon and evening were enjoyed.

The 20th annual Stickler reun-, ion was held Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dipert. A pot-luck dinner was enjoyed at I noon with 41 members present. Sec our new corduroy skirts and dresses. Smith, wife of Rev. Cecil R. Smith, on Tuesday morning at Grass Creek were Rev. and Mrs. V. L. Garner, I Mrs Minnie Taylor, Miss Mariam Auxier, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse McKesson, Mrs. Frank Hahn. Mrs. Lydia Cripe, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Devine, Mr. and .Mrs. Raymond Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Beaty. Rev. and Mrs. Smith served the Walkerton E. U. B. church before going to Grass Creek last year. I Mrs. Joda Miller and children Beverly. Linda and Jimmy, have re- I turned home after visiting Mrs. Miller’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carden in Pittsburg, Pa. The Miller children enjoyed the famous tunnel highways through the mountains, the Turnpike in Pennsylvania over which they rode with their uncle, who is an American Trailways bus driver. Mrs. Miller also enjoyed the trip but says “give me good old Indiana any time where it is not so dirty!”

Ars< neau was taken to the Holy Family hospital Saturday afternoon for an emergency apendectomy. Mr. and .Mis. Cloise Thornburg are the parents of a daughter born August 30th in Fairview Hospital, LaPorte. | Mr. and Mrs. John R. Travis, I Miss Eileen Travis and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Coles of South Bend spent Sunday attending the Railroad Fair in Chicago. j Arthur Zigler, whose arm was .severely injured in an accident at the Pigler gravel pit on August 20, was able to be brought home today. He will enjoy seeing his friends ' During Walkerton’s small “hurricane” Wednesday afternoon several trees blow down over the city, 1 causing some slight damage. At the Clyde Walz home a tree blew down, over their electric power line, causing a short circuit, and slight damage to their home. I Mrs. Foster Rearick, president of the Women’s Community Club and Mrs. Orrin Hilcr, president of the Junior Woman’s Club attended a luncheon and district council meeting in Plymouth last Friday. The Council voted to support Mrs. C. E. Steele of Knox, as their candidate for state president. The election will take place at the state | convention to he held at French Lick in October. | Mr. and Mrs. Fleet Kissinger and daughters Helen. Dorothy and left Wednesday for Frankfort and other points of interest in the central part of the state. Thev visited relatives in Frankfort Wednesday . They spent Wednesday night in Lafayette. Theursdav they visitcd*Mr. Kissinger’s and his grandparents’ old homes in and around Frankfort and also attended the Frankfort Fair. They stopped at the Tippecanoe State park on their way home Thursday evening.

Mrs. Margaret Sears of South Bend is spending the week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Graf. Diane Graf and Linda and Barbara Leininger are spending the week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Eail Lcdninger in Mishawaka. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fetzer and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Heim and son Frankie were guests at a Sunday dinner party aboard the yacht of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Becker on Lake Michigan at St. Joseph. Mr. and Mrs Otto Shultz and family have moved to Michigan City. Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Hardy and son Charles ami Miss June Burgoyne of Auburn, Ind., have returned from a two weeks vacation trip which took them to New York City, Lake Champlain, Montreal, Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls. From Buffalo they came by boat to Detroit, and then on home.
