Ask Protection For Dangerous Crossing Numerous accidents, many of them resulting fatally at the crossing of ; the Pennsylvania Railroad and State Road 29, at midway, 2 miles west of Hamlet, have aroused the State Highway Department to the fact that ' seme protection to the traveling public is demanded at that point. Despite the fact that this crossing appears to be open and a plain view I for a mile or more on each side, still the accidents occur with distressing I regularity. The fact that three , roads parallel each other within the i width of 100 yards confuses motorists as to whether it is the headlight of a train or an automobile that is bearng down upon the crossing. The high grade of the railroad is also thought to be a contributing factor. John L. Moorman, of Knox, has taken the matter up with the state highway Commission who have promised that action will be taken by the Commisson to force some protecttion at this crossing. Hi-Y Boy’s Conference.
