Our readers rnU cnd in Mr. Julian's Address an able and thorough crctroif of a subiect of the hieb st practical importance. Men of all political creeds believe that our national prosperity depends on the intelligence and virtue of the people; and whatever evils or abuses mav exist in our political system can be remedied only by the culture and growth of the masses. All will admire the elevated and dispassionate tone of the Address, as well as its peculiar quality of suggesting thoughts vchich seem to lie very near us, but which had escaped our notice hitherto. A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. Few persons pass through life in this world without meeting with some terrible and crushing disappointments; and thero is perhaps nothing else which so fully determines the future character .and course of the person concerned, as the spirit in which these disappointments are met ana sustained. An experience c! this kind is, of ccurie, always very painful, and it ia clten extremely dangerous. A very comrr.cn and natural effect of such experiences is breaking down ind disorganizing of the character. It ia hard to keep from feeling that there ij nothing left worth living for, or if there is, that ic can never attain it; and that it makes very little difference what we do, or tvhat Lccomes of us now. In Ihi time of suffering, while the soul is stunned, blind ar.d I e-
