There was a letter in the guerilla, notifying him of the concealment in two diflerent places in the valley, of a large lot of leather. Gen. Milroy at once sent a force to each of the places described, and captured as Wagons could carry. Adjutant General Thomas, now at Milliken's Bend, La., jhai dismissed quite a number of (captains and lieutenants from the service for incompetency and disloyalty. Military arrests go on with a vepfrenneo at St. Louh. About , 100 were arrested on Wednesday and will be sent South. The list embraces some of the most prominent and active business and professional men. Xo favoritism. The wives ami families of oflicers in the rebel service also to be sent South. A special train was sent up from : j Cincinnati to Davton on the morning of Tuesday last, for the pur-r-c u cwni-unj; xne lion. ... Vallaiulighaxn to the former citv. Gen. Ihirnside having or taking a notion he had some special business with the Hon. Ex-Member of Congress. The escort ran" Ids bell near 4 o'clock. He appeared at an upper window, but learning that the object of his early callers waa to escort hiui to the city, he declined the honor, shouting at the top of Ms voice, "Asa! Asa!' and immediately a pistol was fired from another part of his house. The fire bells were rung; and it was evident that he and hi friends had a preconcerted arrangement in view of such an incident. The matter seeming a little urgent, the messengers stood not upon the order of their entering, but entered at oi.ee; and, allowing the Hon. gentleman scant time to make his toilet, hurried him down to the depot and were on the way to the city before his friends could make any attempt at his rescue. He was committed to prison and no one allowed to see him through the day. Waon loads of copperheads were hauled into Dayton during the day, but no demonstration made till after dark, when an attack was made on the Daily Journal oflice, which was finally fired and burned to the ground, several adjoining buildings sharing the same fate. Troops arrived from Cincinnati in time to quell the rioters just as they were commencing an attack on the fine residence of Mr. John Lowe. The precise charge upon which Mr. V. was arrested has not publicly transpired. LATER. The city pretty quiet through Wednesday; about 30 of the ringleaders of the mob were arrested without resistance and lodged in jail. The editor of the Kmnirc wa.i

On last Saturday some forty men came into Centreville, AVavne Co., wearing butternut ornaments, and cheering for Jelf. Davis. Every man who is convicted of taking part in any disloyal demonstation should be sent to Gen. Kosccrans, to be passed through the lines to his friends. A Richmond correspondent send9 us a letter containing particulars of the recent copperhead exhibition atCenterville. As the general news this week is of unusual interest, we can give but a limited space to things of this character. We give the concluding paragraph of the letter. "There are indications all over the land that the rebels and their guilty accomplices, feel that their days are numbered, and in their desperation, they will resort to almost anything in the blind hope of success. But their attempt is vain; and they will only reap the harvest of humiliation & disgrace, and transmit to their children the unenviable memory. It is only a question of time, their unholy causo cannot prosper, and sooner or later they will see the result of their futile attempts to destroy the government that has protected their persons and property, to all of which they have forfeited their claim." "A thousand curiosities1' are "too many" for our narrow and crowded columns. The article is besides rather fanciful or poetical for the times. Too much a do about nothing." These are times for earnestness and practicality. Ckimc at a Premium.
