On Monday the Pith of December, the Delegates from the several coun ties assembled in the Hall of the State House, and proceeded lo organize a Convention, w hereupon B. V. Beckes of the county of Knox was called to the Chair, aft President, and Arthur P.vrrmsox of Parke county, and Dvvm Ro;m of Gibson county, as Vice Presidents W. J. Brown of Rush count j and Nathaniel Field of Clark county, were appointed Secretaries. Amory Kinney, of Tei1 re-IIauie, was elected President Judge of the 7th instead of the 1st Judicial Circuit, as stated in our last. A Memorial is about being present ed to the Slate Legislature, praying for the Incorporation of a Company i the name of "The New-Albany, Salcn Indianapolis and Wabash Rail Road Company," for the purpose of construe ting a Rail Road from New Albany, on thcOhio river,via Salem, Brownstown, iitockford, Columbus, Edinburgh Franklin and Greenville, to Irdianap olis; thence to some suitable point oti the Wabash River, not particularly designated. "A Rail Road from some point on the Ohio river lo Indianapolis, cannot bul be desired by all, the advantages re suiting fi-om it would be incalculably great connecting, as is its purpose, O w the metropolis of the state immediately with the cortimcrce of the Western wa ters; and being continued from Indian apolis to some suitable point on the Wabash river, would doubly add to its utility. The point on the Wabash not having been decided upon, wc feel no: hesitancy in naming Moxtezuma', in this County, n's a suitable point for the termination of said Road; and that it pass from Indianapolis, (due west) thro Danville, and Rockiille toMonlezu-' mriif a distance of GG or G8 miles. We j presume it is the nearest point upon the Wabash, and the rout from thence to Indianapolis as admirably adapted to the construction of a Rail w ay as any other more northerly. Monday, Dec. 1 On motion of Mr. Hayes, a resolution was adopted, authorizing the committee on canals and internal improve ments to inquire into the expediency of memorializing Congress, praying an appropriation for the removal of obstructions in the Wabash river.
