fic'iated, by the managers, for this great meeting, was the Assembly room of Mr. Hunt: but rotis'kh: ring it rather unsuitable for their deliberations, the meeting
w;is aiourned to the Mienl! s ottiee. This they found to rmnll to accommodate the law concourse ofcitir.ens, ho hnd assembled, and who were (xpcdal to assemble, and it was deemed advisable to adjourn to the Court House; and the people being adUed of the fart.
they began to wend their way thitherward. Eet ling some curiosity to know what the mountain would bring forth, a!-o repaired to the Court House, at an early hour, and was enabled to secure, a seat within the bar, where we were pleaed to recognize a great i.umhr of highly respectable friends of the nre.M.f :iilmi!ii-(r;itioii. tnLr t in T with a

The meeting wa then called to order by P. V. Culley
Esq. Editor of the ralladiuin sVc, and on his motion Mr. Hunt was made Chairman, and Mnj. J. P. Dunn appointed Secretary. Amos Lane, E.sq. then rose, nnd addressed the Chair in a set speech of about 30 minutes, in which the objects of the meeting were fully set
forth, their political land mark distinctly laid down, their future roupr, as to

of resolutions
On motion of Mr. Armstrong, the rcso-1
utions were then adopted, without a
issenting voice. It is due to candor,
lowever, to remark that some of the
acksonmen present, sat viutr. when the
ote was taken, not feeling willing to
acrifioe former principles, and turn their
backs on former friends, for the honora
ble distinction of following in the wake
of the illustrious file leader of the
Jackson party, in this county. And
among these, we w ere pleased to recog
nize Col. Spencer. There were others,
again, of liberal and honorable prinei-
les, who, understanding the high-toned
measures to be adopted by the meeting,
refused to attend and participate in their deliberations; and among these
we could name a number of our most worthy citizens. Hut we dismiss the
subject for the present, hoping to be able
to give the resolutions in our next, witl
such remarks as the occasion may seem to require.
Comii.i tion. In the tabular view of
the Apportionment bill, which we gave last week, two or three important er
rors occurred, which we take the present occasion to correct. The counties
of Orange and Lawrence were represented as havingonly '2 members in the
Jlm.iP o Cenreseiitatives. insieau 01 .:
and the county of Putnam, having
members, wa entirely omitted. Adding
these to the list, as republished below
the number of representatives contem
plated by the bill is 77, instead 74, as
stated last week, and the aggregate amount of both houses 10(5. The Pill which Messrs. Pollock and Armstrong voted to strikeout gave an aggregate of only OG! Will gentlemen be so good as to explain? S( nettorial Districts
