taxation so just, as that which requires
Yi) man in me country to pay according to the real value of his j.ropertv. Believing that a great majority of the voters in Dearborn County', are friendly to the doctrines we profess, we call on (hem to awake out of their lumbers, and rally around the ballot-box, on the first Monday in August next.and assert their rights, by voting for men friendly to those jiis.t and equitable measures. And ,vc call upon the people of the Slate to
roue up from their lethargy, and cast oil'

Let it no lon-er be said that a poor man shall pay as much tax for a horse worth only ten dollars, as his rich neighbor does,7or one worth (en times (hat amount; and.that a man shall pay as much tax for land in a wild slate, worth no more than Congress price, as his neighbor pays for the same quantity and rate, worth 15 or '20 dollar- per acre. This mode of taxation has not the shadow of justice in it, and ought to be abolished. And there are consistent men enough in Indiana to abolish it. We therefore call upon them in the name of justice, in the name of their own interest, in (he name of property, in the name of every thing but despotism and monarchy, to reform the evil, prelecting good and honest men throughout the State, to the Legislature, who ar.t fovorable to justice and equity. l'AK.MLKS.
