The train from Chicago on the Michigan Southern road went through a culvert last night near South Bend, Ind. The accident was caused by the washing away of the culvert. From 20 to 30 persons are reported killed. LATER. CHICAGO, June 28. The stream where the accident occurred on the Michigan Southern Railroad last night, is naturally much swollen by the extraordinary rains of the previous afternoon and evening, and the drift-wood had probably choked the culvert, thereby converting the embankment into a dam and the great weight of the water with the concussion of the crossing train caused the sad calamity. About one hundred and fifty persons were on the train, thirty of whom were taken from the ruins dead, and from fifty to sixty others more or less wounded. The rest have not been heard from. The names of the killed, as far as yet ascertained are, Hartwell, Express Mesov.r- la -irrer and Kiretrin. both i an el , , , . . ... . PI. olia- 1..I l.tre'itr. I. -.
