Jntlge mortonU Viewi on tUe slavery Question. He held that the question of slavery Wftfl one Trith which we of Indiana had nothing to do. and he. for one, had no disposition to interfere with it whore it existed. Kit was a blessing, let the slave State* enjoy it alone if it was a curse, let them keep it to themselves. We wanted nothing to do with it, except to keep it from our doors, and prevent its extension into territory already oenpccated to freedom. and in which we had a present and prospective interest. We had no desire or intention to interfere with the rights of Slavery as guaranteed in the Constitution, among which he was understood to include the right guaranteed by the Constitution to reclaim fugitives from service escaping into anv of the free States or Territories of this tfnion.

On this whole question of Sla^ry we did not understand Judge

here, we would thank some of our Ropublican friends, who affect to entertain doubts as to his soundness on this question, to enlighten us -as to time and place. It won't do to decry a faithful public servant and throw him off, on mere suspicion. The people, who have the votes to give, will want something more tangible. Let us have it. In our opposition to slavery extension, we yield to no man, who stops short of absolute fanaticism and yet we have never been able to see anything in Mr.

Prom the Norfolk (V*) AUWRTW. A VBAVririll. I!ICI»E»*. In a conversation with one of oar physicians yesterday morning, he related an incident of last summer's pestilence, that to us seemed touchingly beautiful, and which we trust will not only be read with pleasure, but with profit on account of the

One by one the family were smitten with the terrible fever, until but one—a little girl of twelve years was left on her feet, upon whom the entire family was dependent for sustenance and nursing—for it was a time when the appliances of wealth were powerless, and even millionaires were beggars. The Doctor knowing the impor .ance of .the utmost nursing that could be given, and knowing too the importance of cheerfulness in the xick 'rooms, called little into the parlor. and explained the weight of the responsibility that had fallen upon her almost infantile shoulders. Sometimes, indeed, overtasked Nature would assert he* supremacy—tho natural fear and stricken affections of the young and aQectionate girl, would for a time overpower her sense of duty, and she would for a time give way to grief. But this exhibition was never made in the presence of the sick. At each time she would shut horself in the parlor, and relieve her overcharged feelings by weeping, as if her heart would break. But as soon as the paroxysm of grief was over, she would remove every sign of sorrow, and with smiles on her face, and mu*ic on her tongue, would once more assume her trying duties, with a courage that has never been exceeded by the chivalry of the world.

Some of the family died under her care, but the greater number—thanks to her attention and her courAgeous tact—recovered. To her they each owe a lund ot gratitude, that a life of love and kindness
