THE DAISY.

Not worlds on worlds, in phalanx deep, Need we to prove a God is here— The daisy, fresh from winter's sleep,

Tells of his hand in lines as clear.

For who but fie who arched the skies, And pour» the day-spring'« living flood, Woiid'rous alike in all he tries,

Could rear the daisy's purple bud

NKVKU FOIUJET vot'K MOTIISH."—The editor of the Lawicnco Courier, referring to the death of the Hon. It was on the deok of a vessel that lay with loosened sails nnd shortened cable, that we, still in boyhood, just commencing years of wandering and hardship, received a parting grasp of his pure hand with these words—••

What better charge could bo j»iven a lad launching forth on 'life's deceitful tide,' wheie the chart and compass of his young head and heart must be his only protection from shipwreck.—Many years havo passed uway, and that good man has finished the voyage of lime lie has disappeared ndown the dark stream of death, and, we doubt not, has reached that celestial haven where the storms of earth are never known, and has exchanged the anchor symbol which he ever carried at the prow during life, for blissful realisation."

SETTLEMENT OB* LONG DISPUTED LAND TITLES.—In the matter of the claims in the Vinccnnes Land District, Indianna, founded on ancient grants, or possession under the French and British governments, on claims to donations as heads of families under the resolves of Congress in 1788 and 1798, and as militiamen enrolled at Vincennes in 1790, we learn that a large number of these ancient claims were reported by the United States commissioners in the years 18 '6 and 1812, and confirmed by Congress to the parties then claiming. Since that lime the lauds have gone into the possession of individuals claiming under the original holders, and the tillers of present owners, in many cases, arc supposed to rest merely upon continued possession for twenty years and more. At the last session, Congress pass-. cd an act to adjust and confirm the titles1 of present owners, and instructions are about to issue from the General Land Office to givo proper effect to ihc act aforesaid.

If we were asked to give, in a single: sentence, tho reason why the most of wnat is called "poetry*' is so utterly stupid,! tame and worthless, we should answer at once, "it is because the writers have not got anything to say." AFFLICTED, HEAD

PHILADELPHIA

MEDICAL HOUSE—Establish

ed 20 years ago by Dr. Kinkelin, corner ol'Third and Unioii sts. between Spruce and Pin# Phila., Pa INVALIDS are apprisedthat Dr. Kinkelin confines his practice toa particular branch of medicinc, which engages his undivided attention. Ho cautions the unfortunate against the abuse of mercury thousands are annually mercurialized out of lifo. Reccnt affections are promptly extinguished.

TWENTY" YEARS OF EXPERIENCE In the treatment of a class of diseases hitherto neglect ed and imperfectly understood, has enabled Dr. Kink clin, (Author of a work on Self Preservation,) to prove that nine-tenths of the causes of nernous debility, local and constitutional weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceablo to certain habits, forming the most secret yet deadly and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature mortality^

TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE.

There is an evil habit sometimes indulged in by boys, in solitude, often growing up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed in due time, not only begets serious obstacles to matrimonial happiness, hut gives rise to a series of protracted, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those who give way to this pcrnicious practice are unaware ofthe consequences, until they find thenerVous system shattered, feel strange and unaccountable feelings, and va^ue fears in the mind.

The unfortunate thus afflicted becomes feeble, is unablo to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his mind to study his step i* tardy ami weak* he is doll, irresolute, and engages iu his sport With less energy than usual.

If he emancipate himself before the practice has done its worst, and enter matrimony, his marriage is unfruitful, and his sense tells him that this is causcd by his early follies. The*e are considerations which should awaken the attention of those similarly situated.

MARRIAGE

Requires the fulfilment of several conditions, in order that it may be really the causc of mutual happiness. Could tho veil which covers the origin of domestic wretchedness be raised, and its true source in every instance disclosed—iu how many could it be traced to physical disqualifications and their attendantdisappoiutinents! Apply then while it is yet time, in order to have your unstrung and relaxed organization rebraced, revivified and strengthened.

KEMEMBER

Ho who places himself under Dr. Kinkelin'a treatment may religiously confide in his honor as a gentleman. and rely upon the assurance, that the secrets of Dr. K's. patients will never be di-iclosed.
