TWO WEEKS LATER FROM CALIFORNIA
Safety of Lieut. Strain and Party.
The steamship K1 Dorado, which arrived at New Orleans on Wednesday last, brings the gratifying intelligence that Lieut. Strain and his party of explorers are safe, and had arrived on the Pacific coast.
There was little California news of general interest. Messrs. Wells, Fargo fc Co., had forwarded from Sacramento for shipment tot.be Atlantic States, nine hundred pounds of gold dust.
The accounts from Walker's "filibuster Expedition were extremely discouraging/ Th^y were quartered at San Vincent, and the force was daily dwindling away. Several more had returned to San Francisco.
The trial of Col. Watkins, of the Walker filibuster expedition, has commenced. ExGov. Foote, of Mississippi, was one of the counsel.
The mining accounts are still exceedingly favorable. The San Francisco markets were djtlftte stagnant. Six failures, including two commission merchants, had occurred. Money was stringent, and real estate had largely declined in value.
The steamer Star in the West sailed from San Juan for New York on the 31st ult., with $900,000 in treasure.
Col. Fremont had been overtaken in the mountains, going the central route to San Francisco. Several of his party had died of cold and hunger.
The steamers leaving San Francisco on the 16th of March, had over $2,000,000 in treasure.

It is the intention of Mr. Everett to publish the original letter, with an amendment made by Mr. Webster, for private circulation among his friends.

^FORB ANNEXATION.-A Washington correspondent of the Kew York Couimeicial says:
4,The
Snndwtcli Islands, in the Pacific,
and the new republic of Honduras, on the Atlantic, have ceased to struggle against their "destiny," and are now asking to be annexed as apart of this republic. The proposition from the Sandwich Islands has been some time before our government, and a messenger from the government of llonduras is now on his way, asking the same privilege for that portiob of the continent which is not included in either South or North America, and which Mr. Clayton and Sir Henry fculwer agreed should not belong to Central America. This province, after anxiously inquiring "where she shall go," has replied to her own Question, by resolving to come to tis and in a few days our executive will be required to answer the earnest petition of Honduras for Annexation to tho United States.
