v'Willino to be Foroiven.—There, is a good story told of a young lady, who, not i®es more than a thousand years ago, was' umitten with the eloping epidemic thai was then raging in her native city, but who in her haste neglected to talce all her clothing with her indeed, she look little more than what she stood in need of. As soon as the knot had been fairly and irrevocably tied, she wrote a letter to her dear guardian, informing him of the fact, and imploring him to send to her by the next express, "his forgiveness and her trunk—especially the latter!" Authentic history does not inform us whether the next express brought her either or both of the articles sent for. v.™-

Treaty with Mexico.—The New York Heralds Washington correspondents says that the treaty with Mexico which has been negotiated by Mr. Gadsden, is now in the hands of the President, and will soon be communicated to the Senate. It provides for such a boundary as will enable the United States to protect Mexico from the Indians, for the right of way for a Railroad to the Pacific, or as an alternative, that Mexico shall cede to the United States a boundary that shall extend nearly to the Sist parallel, giving a large extension of territory, including Lower California and Sonora, upon payment of the sum of" $50,000,000. Also for the specific endorsement of the Tchuautcpec ri^ht. of way.

The New York Herald of the 31st says: '"Mr. Benton's "Thirty years in the Senate" is rapidly passing through the press, and will make two very large octavo volume *, printed with small typfe, iu double col imns. There is a prospect that this trork will have a larger sale than any histoncal composition ever printed. Already more than fifty thousand copies, at $5 per copy, have been subscribed for, and it is anticipated that in the first year after its appearance it will attain to a circulation of Dot less than one hundred thousand copies —a success, for so expensive a publication, without parallel in all the world.

ffljg R*-* Eiopbiient.—On Wednesday last, a la* day and gentleman came down from Lebanon and took a room in the Winne Housed I ostensibly as man and wife, the clerk knowing better. The progress of matters have jphown, however, that all was not right, that the gentleman was a gay Lothario who had inveigled awav anotber man's wife. To he brief, a Mr. W„ of

The more fully aw, sloped is the disease the more salutary and powerful the .^sct of this Elixir, at once destroyingthe appetite lbr spirits, and restoring the tone ofthe stomach to as healthy an action as it was before drinking a drop of.ardent spirits and when intemperance has assumed this diseased form, reason is measurably dethroned, the will to a certain extent bor comes ungovernable, until often, alas! many have passed the bounds of sober restraint, and though they may desire, in their sober moments, to abandon the useofthat which is so rapidly proving their bane, they cannot, unaided, and no aid has evev been tendered such, with succes* until the discovery of Dr. Urban's never failing Anti-Bacchanalian Elixir since which time none are left without excuse, as the means necessary to destroy the taste, and again enthrone reason, bringing tho will into perfect subjection, by extracting the poisonous sting land temptation ofthe adder, are placcd within every man's reach: those, therefore, who hereafter fill the grave ofthe drunkard must do so by choice, and not of necessity—it matters not how near it you may be.

DR. URBAN'S

Vegetable Fever and Ague Powders:

The only sure remedy ever known for ChUls ajid E ver, and warranted to cure, in all cases, if taken according to directions.

It cures, when taken according to directions, in Twenty Minutes, leaving no Fever alter the Chill very seldom requiriug mote than one dose to make a permanent cure. A great number of cases, from two to five years standing, have been cured with the first doso, and Chill has never, as, yet, returned. The beauty of this medicine is, thatit stops tho hill in twenty minutes, or less, and the patient will be entirely clear from Fever after the Chill, which is not the case when other medicine is used. It has superseded all other preparatious wherever it has been iatroduced.

Read what the Editors ofthe Louisville Democrat say from their own observation: "Dr. Urban's medicine for the cure of chills and fever has effected some wonderful curcsin our own midst. A young man who has resided for several years in Lousiana, reached New Albany a few weeks since, weak and emaciated—literally worn out phys»cally, with long continued chills and fever. He made a short stay at the house of Judge Smith, where his old disease continued with no less severity than at home in Louisiana. Having exhausted almost every remedy known to the medical profession, he procured a box ot Dr. Urban's celebrated medicine, and after taking two pewders was entitely relieved and restored to health. He has been well ever since—says his health has not been as good for severiilyears, and is now fast regaining his former vigor and the rosy cheeks he was wont to wear.
