The daughter died ih her father's arms, about eight o'clock the same morning.— lie took iier body to the deck to secure it there, but the waves, eager for their victim, tenutched it from his nrms. and it was buri fed in the ocean. The Cabtaih returned ^o the rigging to protect Iiis wife, who died in his arms a few hours after. Then lie had nothing to livo for. lie losl his energy, died, and fell into the sea, where his loved ones had gone before him. All the rest Wel-e saved.

Philadelphia, andolsutrherr, has eUfccted sohiu of the most astonishing cures that were ever known. Many trou bled with ringing in.thfc eare and head when asleep preat nervousness, beiiip alarmed at sudden sounds, and baslifulness, with frequent blushing, atlendtd sometimes with derangomr.ut of mind, were cured immediately.
A CERTAIN DISEASE.
When the mt*K"ldod and imprudent votary of pleasure finds he has iinbibcd the seeds of this disease, it too often happens that an illtimed sense of shame, or dread of discovery, deters him from applying to thoso who, fTom education and respectability, can alone befriend him, delaying until the constitutional symptoms of this horrid disease make their appearanco, such as ulcerated sore throat, diseased nose, noctnrnal pains in the head and limbs, dimness of si phi, deafness, nodes on the skin, bones and arms, bluchtrs on the head and face, and cxtemcties, progress on with frightful rapidity, till at last the palate of the mouth orthe bones of the nose fall in. and the victim of this awful disease becomes a hVrrid object of commiseration, till death puts a period to his droadfUl sufferings, by sending him to "that bourne whence no traveler iptnrus." To such, therefore. Dr. JOHNSTON pledges himself to observe the most inviolable sccre* cv and from h'is extensive practice in the first hospitals of Europe and Amerirs, he can confidently recommend a safe and speedy curc to the unfortunate victim ofthis horrid disease. It is a nielauchuly fact that thousands fall victims to this horrid disease, oiving to the unskillfulncss of those who, by the use of that deadly poison, mercury, ruin the constitution and either send the unfortunate sufferer to an untimely grave, or else make the residue of his life miserable.
TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE. tain practice indulged in when alone—a habit frequently learned from evil companions, or ot school— tne effects bf ivhlch arc niphtly felt, even when asleep and iCnot cured, renders marriage impossible, aud destroys both mind and body.
What a pity a young n.an, the hops of his country and the darling of his parents, should be snatched from all prospects and enjoyments of life by tbe conscquen ces of deviation from the path of nature, and Indul-, ging In a certain secret habit. Such persons, before contemplating

Indeed, without thoso, the journey through life becomes a weary pilgrimage, the prospect hourly darkens to the view—the mind becomes shadowed with despair and filled with the melancholy reflection that the liappiiiess of another bocomes blighted with our own.
