Correspondence of the Indiana JtwrMT COLUMBUS, May 26,
lie would he decidedly Yours,
1849.
R. DEFREBS—-The Whig and Democratic candidates for Governor addressed our people here to-day, and some account of their sayings may interest you.
It is strange how men will differ in opinion, and still stranger that the same man will differ from himself 1 This was fully exempli lied to-day, in the speech of Joseph A. Wright, the Democratic candidate, on the subject (now most important) of free-soil. Now, we have been told that Mr. Wright and the Democratic party are frce-aoilers. We have been endeavored to be warmly impressed with this belief. Such were the letters of their candidates for Senator— such their Governor's message—such the address of their nominating convention, and such, the Sentinel said, were Mr. Wright's principles.
Well, possibly it was so. but to-day, in his speech, he said "that he had voted for the admission of Florida as a slate State, and that he would do so again." He demanded of Mr. Matson to know "if he (Matson) would vote against the admission of anew state into the Union." Mr. Matson replied "that he would vote aga*nst the admission of any slave State made out of free territory."
Mr. Wright said "that he would vote for the admission of a slave State—that he was in favor of the people oi new States forming their own constitution, and that he would vote to admit them as they formed it, whether with slavery or freedom."
That he would concede all for tli6 Union—and advised the young people to vote for no man who would act differently—for that if the free States voted against the admission of slave States, the slave States would vote against the admission of free States, and thus the Unite would be at an end. He was for noninl^rfcrencu."
Now, this is the Cass doctrine. This is the Nicholson letter doctrine that abominable heresy to republicanism, so ably and so conclusively used up last fall, by the able letter of Mr. Van Buren.

credited to him as a misfortune rather 5 than blamed as a fault. John A. Matson, the Whig candidate: for the same oflicc, replied to Mr.. Wright, and also presented his views on political matters generally, lie placed himself upon the old-fashioned Whi^j ground upon the subjects he spoke of. I'pon the question of Free-soil, as I

SIR—I had the good fortune, in commo,n
The magnanimous course of Gen. Taylor's anministration respecting tho leading interests of the West—the singular and unenviable position of the Democratic party in regard to the Wilmot Proviso—and the patriotic duty of every citizen in the present national crisis—were briefly, but most forcibly and nobly exhibited to the neople and I am free to say, thai if Mr. Matson succeeds as well in other places, the ides of August will proclaim his triumphant victory or it he should unfortunately be defeated, the "sober second thought" of tho people will force on! them the inquiry-—why' have true-1

I bad great pain in my left side, upon which I could not lay in bed, and in the morning my cough was so severe that I found it very painful to throw up the phlegm which gathered in great quantities on my Iun$s, when fortunately 1 bought of your agent in this place, one bottle of your Compound Syrup of IVild Cherry, which so much relieved me that I* continued using it until now. I have used six bottles, and am happy to tell you that my twins are removed, my strength returned, my sleep is undisturbed and sweet, and I feel perfectly well, lean now follow my daily avocation without being afflicted with that painful. hacking, weakening cough, and I firmly believe

that I never used or heard of^arty nledicine tha^k was half so good as your Liniment. I would recommend it with the greatest confidence to all whd nave horses. They should always have it on hand, so that it could be applied immediately in case of accident, nod thereby save the life of many a valuable horse I have used it in the very worst cases of sweeney with entire succet^ also splint, sprains bruises, galls, wounds, sore eyes, &-c. Two most extraordinary cures I mutt mention in particulars got up very early one morning, and on looking into my pasture discovered my favorite horse limp ing and dragging a rail after hini. On going up close to lum. to my amazement and horror, the rail was sticking in his stomach, betwoen the flanks, to the depth of eight Inches, and so tightly uf 1P0
hard pulls to oxtrica.te it after
which the poor animal suffered the utmost agony^ I never dreamed of his recoverv, and supposed that no human hand could snvo him. The well known virtues of your Liniment flashed on my mind, and It was immediately applied. By the next day I had the gratification of witnessing the commencement of his recovery, and In six nays thereafter I rode him to Peoria, as souud as ever and would not take #150 for him now. The other case was this. One of my men got his leg in the teeth of a thrashing machtric, and it was only, by miracle that he was not instantly killed.
MO I^G WM, norrioiy mutilated, though no DOIIOS wore broken. Your Liniment was applied, and in five days he went to work again. Ho fully believes that but for your Liniment he would never have recovered. With every wish for the succcss I of the Arabian Liniment, am truly votirs, ... .. llENRV S. AIKEN.
A ikon's mills, near Peoria. March 1, 1847. [Read the following extraordinary euro ol a spinal "lotion and loss of use df the limbs.]
Mr. II. G. FARRELI.: Please send me by the bearer another dollar bottle of your Arabian Liniment, which will be enough, I think, to complete ly cure my dear child. I havo often thought that 1 would eit down and furnish yon with an account of my poor child's situation, so that ydu nllgllt make it public, and thus be the cause of as much benefit to some others of my fellow beings as it IIHS been to me. Slio laid for six months without the slightest power or control of her limbs whatever, and suffered tho m»st aaronizing pain tho greater portion of the time. Even her neck was
Pear
erfectly stiff, and so painful that she could not to have her head moved in the least. Thus was she for six months, during all which time we had to carry her about on a chair when sho wished to change her place. We had three of the best physicians in the whole country attending her but they could do her fto good. Finally, one of them (the last to givo her up) said he could do nd niore for her, and that, as I wished to get your Lin1 inient, I could do so, adding that he Know it was good, and might help her. I got it accordingly, and she began to recover after a few applications. She can now use all of her limbs freely, arid cart walk tolerably well. Wo aro now applying it over the spine, which the doctors say in the seat of the disease, and we expect one bottle more to curd her as well asever she was. We have used it also for sprains, bruises, burns and cuts, with like success. Hoping that thisgreat remedy will bespread
on Wednesday next. All his notes and accounts will be left in the hands of Dr. G. W. Patrick and J. H. Burnham for settlement and collection. The notes and accounts of Patrick & Clip-
ham for collection, or they may be settled with Dr. Clippinger or Dr. G. W. Patrick, at the office I have occupied in Earley's buildings, where Drs. Miller & Patrick will keep their office and attend to the practice of Medicine and Surgery. They are both gentlemen well qualified in their profession, and well entitled to a share of public patronage. S. PATRICK..
