SIMPLE DIVISION

We heard a story the other night on the subject of "Division" that we thought "sum" at the time, and never having seen it in print we are tempted to give our reader* the benefit of it.

A Southern planter named P., pretty well to do in the world note, was aome

5! twenty years ago a poor boy on the East* ipc em shore of Maryland. One of his fft- strongest and most marked trait* of character was his inordinate love of money.

This, however, is characteristic of the people of "them diggins," where they practice skinning strangers during brisk seasons and skinning one another dur« ing dull times. In due course of time, P. was of agef and thought it about time to get married. Hte went to a neighboring village, and in the course of events was introduced to a daughter of Judge

"Dang fine gal," said the embryo speculator to the friend who was gai»* in/r him an entrance among the elite* "Very." J"

"How much'"might Judge be worth?" Why.about $10,000". was the reply. "And how many children has Judge BP' continued the inquirer. "Only three." I' "Three into ten goes three times, and a third over," mentally ciphered P.— Here was a chance—a glorious chance Wheeling and he improved it too. He made love to the beautiful and unsophisticated I daughter of the Judge, with all the vari-jjf«w England! a S a to a a a an a uncouth a looking cub as ever went un-' I ItnlpA/l kia autt niMvanAMul KflV \.-l

iicked—his suit prospered, were married. The honey-moon passed off, as all other honeymoons do, and they were happy. The bride was lively and chatty, and often made allusions to her brothers and sisters. Startled at tHe ntimbeUr of names in the catalogue of relations, one evening at tea he said, "My dear, I thought there was only three of you," "So there are, by mv Ma, but Pa's first wife had eight more." "Eleven go into ton no times and jta-i ry one over!" cried the astonished P., who jumped up*, kicked over the chair,! and groaned in perfect agony: "I'm sold, I'm sold! and a d—n sight cheaper than

Messrs. J. Winer Sc Co.—Sirs: My child of five years of see was for more than two years severely afflicted with worms, during whiah time we gave her different medicines recommended in such cases, but they produced no beneficial effects. I at length procured a bottle of your anadisn Vermifuge, snd gave it to her, which caused her to pass a large number of worms since then she has been in the etyoyment of perfect health.
